The use of landing surfaces came about as an evolution from the playground industry using technologies derived from the gymnastics industry.
What is Nicro-Mat™?
The Nicro-Mat™ system is a continuous, seamless system that utilizes a foam underlayment and poured-in-place rubber top layer. The top layer of this system is a colored EPDM rubber that can be mixed to color match the surrounding décor.
What makes Nicro-Mat™ so great?
This surface is a non-intrusive looking surface. Because the top surface is made of tiny little rubber granules, multiple colors can be blended together to compliment the colors of your facility. The finished look is a seamless rubber surface.
Surface and Features
This surface is generally a flat, uniform rubber floor that can transition easily into adjacent surfaces. If multiple colors are used, a variety of effects can be obtained.
Feel
When you land on Nicro-Mat™ you will notice that it doesn’t give way under you but feels like landing on a substantial surface. It’s different than a regular floor, however, in that it gives your body a light bouncy feel as the force of your body weight is absorbed by the foam and rubber layers.
Construction
To begin, a foam underlayment is installed throughout the area that will contain the landing surface. This foam is normally a minimum of four inches thick but can be custom tailored to meet your facility’s specific needs. Once the base layer foam is installed, rubber buffings are mixed with special binding agents and laid atop the foam. Once this layer cures, the EPDM rubber pieces are mixed with special bonding agents and poured in place atop the buffings to create a seamless rubber landing surface that has been customized to your desired color scheme.
Cost
Because Nicro-Mat™ is a custom product, there is a price range and the cost will vary depending on a number of factors including total square feet, thickness, accessibility, and overall shape of the landing surface. Generally, the price range for this product is between $30 and $35. To get an accurate quote for your facility, please call a customer service representative.
